From an intimate relationship with materiality, Amanda Tejo Viviani develops a style that embraces the representation of emotions in all their complexity. Her paintings propose scenes that oscillate between fascination and bewilderment. Psychedelia as a revelatory experience, a gothic sensibility, and the fantastic coexist through intense colors and vibrant brushstrokes. In her technical exploration, tridimensional depth and the use of Christian triangulation bring a certain stability and balance to the image. Far from reproducing a devotional logic toward the classical tradition, Amanda uses these compositional strategies as formal devices to articulate a sense of estrangement within her imagery.
She studied Visual Arts with a specialization in Printmaking and Printed Art at the National University of La Plata. Amanda Tejo Viviani works from photographs and sketches, materials she uses as starting points for the construction of her images. Throughout the painting process, these initial references acquire greater complexity, where observation of the environment merges with fantastical and emotional elements.
Tejo Viviani was born in Madrid and lived in Mar del Plata, La Plata, and Buenos Aires. Characters and architectures that formed part of her personal visual experience appear within charged and unsettling atmospheres. Through a dreamlike sensibility, the everyday becomes ambiguous and even disturbing. Her work has been exhibited at institutions and galleries such as the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, Museo MARCO La Boca, Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes Emilio Pettoruti, NN, among others. In 2020, she attended the ArtistasxArtistas program at Fundación El Mirador; in 2022, she participated in the Artists Program at Torcuato Di Tella University and received the Second Acquisition Prize at the 66th Salón Belgrano de Artes Visuales at the Museo Sívori. She currently lives and works in Buenos Aires.
