GUILLERMO KUITCA at the Atchugarry Museum of Contemporary Art

Balanz Loans

On January 6, the exhibition “Desenlace” opened at the Atchugarry Museum of Contemporary Art (MACA), located in Manantiales, Punta del Este. The exhibition is dedicated to the renowned artist Guillermo Kuitca, one of the central artists in the Balanz Collection.

Guillermo Kuitca is an exception in the art world. In 1974, at just thirteen years old, he held his first exhibition, and from that moment on he never stopped observing and understanding the world through painting. For him, his work is a constant interplay between intuition and reflection. Encouraged by his parents, he studied fine arts in Buenos Aires for ten years, later expanding his repertoire of techniques and artistic expressions. Theater, dance, cinema, architecture, and philosophy also became part of his work.

On this occasion, we are pleased to announce the loan of three works for their exhibition in the neighboring country: Tres días, Untitled, and Untitled.

Curated by Sonia Becce, this marks the first time the artist’s work has been presented in Uruguay. Desenlace brings together a carefully selected group of works that spans much of the artist’s creative output, including the series Nadie olvida nada, El mar dulce, Siete últimas canciones, El idiota de la familia, as well as paintings produced during the pandemic. Drawings from the last two decades and recent works on paper are also on view.

The exhibition at MACA will be open to the public until March 20, 2023.
