Colección Balanz took part in the first session of “Encounters on the Art System,” a series of interviews organized by the Public Programs department of Fundación Proa, within the context of the exhibition “El orden imposible del mundo.”
Focused on reflecting on the contemporary art scene, these sessions create a space for discussion on the relationships between the various institutions, collections, and market forces that shape it. The program consists of two public conversations held in the foundation’s auditorium, featuring guests from different art institutions across the country.
Juliana Fontalva—curator and manager of Colección Balanz—was invited to participate in the first session as a representative of the collection. In her interview, conducted by Argentine curator and researcher Francisco Lemus, which closed the first session, she reflected on the origins of the collection, its thematic axes, and its corporate profile. She also revisited its institutional trajectory, highlighting key projects developed over the past seven years and outlining upcoming challenges, in line with the program’s central theme: “a comprehensive view of the contemporary context, with special attention to institutional agendas, the role of cultural policies, and their impact on public and private projects.”
Also participating in the session were Andrés Duprat and Mariana Marchesi (Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes); Teresa Riccardi (Museo Sívori); and Sergio Baur.
We invite you to revisit the session through the following link and to continue engaging in these spaces for exchange, which strengthen dialogue, collaboration, and critical thinking around contemporary art and its institutional framework.
