Alberto Greco at the Museo Reina Sofía

Institutional Loans

We are proud to announce that Colección Balanz is participating in the exhibition “Alberto Greco. Viva el arte vivo”, which opened on February 10, 2026, at the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, curated by Fernando Davis.

On this occasion, we have loaned the following works from our collection:

  • Homenaje a Rafael y Saura (1963)
  • Sin título - Pintura Nº 12 (1961)

The exhibition offers a retrospective reading of Greco’s production between 1949 and 1965, spanning from his informalist period and early writings to his actions, collages, and final novel. The curatorial approach highlights the relationship between these practices and their circulation between Latin America and Europe, emphasizing the procedural, unstable, and expanded nature of his work.

The project is structured around the notion of “arte vivo” (living art), a concept formulated by Greco during his urban interventions in Rome, where he proposed a dissolution between art and life that he later conceptualized as vivo-dito. Within this framework, his oeuvre occupies a liminal zone between performance, writing, action, and media device.

The exhibition can be visited from February 11 to June 8, 2026, at the Museo Reina Sofía, located at Calle Santa Isabel 52, Madrid. Visiting hours: Wednesday to Monday, 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM (Sundays until 2:30 PM).

We invite you to visit the Museo Reina Sofía’s website for more information about the exhibition: “Alberto Greco. Viva el arte vivo”.
