Elda Cerrato at the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires

Balanz Loans

The Museo Moderno presents the first retrospective exhibition of Elda Cerrato (Argentine artist born in Asti, Italy, in 1930), an artist and teacher of Argentine artists, featuring a selection of works created in Buenos Aires, Tucumán, and Caracas, spanning fifty years of production. In both her artistic and academic development, Cerrato’s work offers a unique symbolic, conceptual, and ethical framework, in which the diverse trends of 20th-century Latin American art resonate, as well as the social, political, and cultural dynamics of the region.

Curated by Carla Barbero, with curatorial assistance by Marcos Krämer.

The Balanz Collection is honored to loan two works by Cerrato from its holdings for this exhibition: El Incendio, 1984, and Tentativas de técnicas de segmentación 3, 1979.

The exhibition will be open to the public until July 31, 2021.
